The purpose of the research is to analyse the legislative initiatives of foreign countries in the field of regulation and development of renewable energy sources. Among the methods used are dogmatic, comparative law, legal hermeneutics, synthesis, induction, and deduction. The research explored issues relating to the development and improvement of Kazakhstan’s current legislative framework for renewable energy sources. Kazakhstan’s government initiatives, in particular, the introduction of renewable energy projects, were reviewed and analysed. There is a need to increase the proportion of renewable sources in the state’s economic system.
