[ABSTRACT ]

The purpose of this study is to investigate the estimated waste generation rate (WGR), the source of waste generation, and methods of waste management in a hydroelectric project in Nepal. The research had the following methods applied: analysis, synthesis, abstract-logical, questionnaire survey, and method of assessing the level of waste. The sources of waste generation were characterized and the methods of waste management in this context were considered. The influence of the lack of site management control and the error of the order in the disposal of waste were determined. It was found that the sale of cut metal and iron bars to scrap metal dealers was the most preferred method of waste management. The practical significance lies in providing constructive information for other hydropower project developers to achieve better planning and organisation of the waste management process.

Keywords: waste generation rate; waste management; waste factors; environmental impact; hydropower.
