Summer School at Shanghai Jiao Tong University

The 12th Summer School of 2023 took place in a hybrid format from August 18 to 28, hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

A total of 69 students from Kyushu University, Pusan National University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and University Technology Malaysia, all participants in the Campus Asia Program, attended.

The program featured lectures by 35 professors from the four universities, along with lab exercises, and group presentations for M1 students. Additionally, M2 students presented their research (Mid-term evaluation) The program also encompassed an off-campus excursion to Arup’s Shanghai office and Shanghai Electric Company, all conducted in English.

On the program’s final day, an award ceremony was held to honor the best group presentation among M1 students, including three KU students who received certificates.

The generous support and heartwarming hospitality provided by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, both within and outside the classroom, provided a safe and enriching experience for the students.

The students diligently prepared for their Shanghai trip for several months, including visa applications, and had put in a lot of effort in advance. As a result, all KU students successfully traveled to Shanghai, completed all their classes, and returned home safely on the 29th.

Most students are going to participate in the upcoming CSS at Kyushu University this fall, and many of them plan to study at Kyushu University in the coming years.

KU students are also staying in touch with friends they made upon returning home. The experience of dining together, sharing accommodations, and studying alongside fellow students who share the same goal during their limited time as students was truly invaluable. We hope they will continue to collaborate in the future for the further development of Campus Asia.
