Project objectives and student capabilities to be developed

It is an ever-lasting, inevitable issue for human beings to secure energy and conserve the environment on the earth. Each country should share an understanding of the importance of global energy and environmental issues and also needs to work together in partnership to tackle the issues and work on education, research, and technological development in Energy and Environmental Science and Technology (EEST).
When it comes to a graduate school which aims to cultivate professionals with highly specialized expertise, indeed its mission is to lead the development of globally-competent human resources in EEST. Especially for Asia where rapid economic growth and rapid increase in energy consumption have brought such a negative effect as environmental pollution and its aftermath, it is imperative to deal with energy and environmental issues, and also extremely significant to show what Asia has been trying to tackle such issues to the world.
Based on the aforementioned background and motivation, the South Korea-China-Japan triangle consortium of Pusan National University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Kyushu University proposed a project entitled “Cooperational Graduate Education Program for the Development of Global Human Resources in Energy and Environmental Science and Technology aiming at double degree” and the project was approved. The main target of the previous project was to cultivate and to develop globally-competent human resources in EEST who possess:
(1) highly specialized expertise and research development skill based on the expertise,
(2) understanding of current energy and environmental issues and progressive investigation skill,
(3) globally-competent English language skill,
(4) professional ethics required for researchers and engineers in the globalized era as well as understanding of different cultures/races/societies.
