About the CAMPUS Asia Plus Program

CAMPUS Asia Plus “Energy-Environment Science and Technology, Advanced School of International Alliance” (CA+ EEST-ASIA) is jointly implemented by Kyushu University (KU), Pusan National University (PNU) in South Korea, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) in China, and University of Technology Malaysia (UTM). This program includes DD courses* aimed at obtaining a double master’s degree by studying abroad for half a year and completing the tasks specified in the program, as well as non-DD courses that only complete the tasks specified in the program but do not study abroad.

DD courses (currently implemented by KU, PNU, and SJTU)

In addition to the IGSES courses, the student needs to take the following CA+ EEST-ASIA DD courses.
» English (listening, speaking, debating) courses (once a week for approximately 15 weeks)
» Compulsory elective courses in the EEST field taught in English
» Summer school (latter half of August, holden by KU, PNU and SJTU in turn, twice in total)
» Spring seminar (February or March, holden by KU, PNU, SJTU, and UTM in turn, 1st year students must attend)
» Study abroad at the Host University (PNU or SJTU) in the second semester
Take prescribed courses (taught in English, 14 to 17 credits)

» Interim report on master’s research during the second summer school
» Master’s thesis research in the laboratory of KU (concentrated in the second year)

After completing the DD courses, the student can obtain a double master’s degree (DD) from KU and the Host University, as well as a DD course completion certificate (signed by the presidents of KU, PNU, and SJTU).
*Although it usually takes 3 years (including 1 year to study abroad) to obtain a double master’s degree, it can be obtained within 2 years by participating in this program.

Non-DD course

In addition to the IGSES courses, the student needs to take the following CA+ EEST-ASIA courses.
» English (listening, speaking, debating) courses (once a week for approximately 15 weeks)
» Compulsory elective courses in the EEST field taught in English
» Summer school (latter half of August, holden by KU, PNU and SJTU in turn, twice in total)
» Spring seminar (February or March, holden by KU, PNU, SJTU, and UTM in turn, 1st-year students must attend)
After completing the above courses, the student can obtain a CA+ EEST-ASIA course completion certificate.

About 10 students will be selected from the first-year master’s degree freshmen of IGSES to participate in the CA+ EEST-ASIA DD course. A similar number of non-DD students are also recruited at the same time.
※The DD course with UTM will be implemented from 2024

All courses during summer school and study abroad are conducted in English. To this end, students participating in this program will take courses to improve their English skills (listening, speaking, debating) in the first semester of the first academic year. In addition, two TOEIC tests are required to confirm the improvement of English proficiency.

This course does not charge any fees (such as fees related to studying abroad, course fees for improving English ability (listening, speaking, debating), etc.). During the period of study abroad, a scholarship will be provided to cover living expenses. Accommodation will be provided by the Host University.

Master students who wish to take this course should first obtain permission from their supervisors after admission. Then apply to the Campus Asia office. Campus Asia office will select DD students through interviews within April.
