Invitation to CSS-EEST25

It is my pleasure to welcome all of you to the “25th Cross Straits Symposium on Energy and Environmental Science and Technology, CSS-EEST”. I am also excited to announce that this two-day’s event will be held in the face-to-face mode this time.

The CSS-EEST has an incredible history of over 25 years. The concept for this event was established in 1998 from the Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Engineering Sciences (IGSES) at Kyushu University together with Pusan National University (PNU) and Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH). The aim was to set up a platform for the students from these Universities to have rigorous interactions through discussions on Materials, Energy and Environment research activities. The first CSS-ESST was held in Chikushi Campus of Kyushu University in November 1999 organised by IGSES. Since then, this event has been held every year, rotating the venues among these universities. In 2013, the CSS-EEST welcomed Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and the Campus Asia Program. We are very glad to bring the CSS home in 2023.

As we all know, the global strategic dynamics and geopolitical landscape have been shifted towards Asia Pacific and ASEAN regions over the last few years. We are pleased to observe that CSS-EEST has the right regional focus since the beginning. The CSS-EEST subject is becoming more relevant because of energy and environmental issues we face today. CSS-ESST25 will have:

1. Keynote speeches from the faculties of the organising Universities (KU, SJTU, PNU & UTM)
2. Technical (Oral) sessions
3. Poster session
4. Social tour

I am very pleased to announce that selected papers from CSS-EEST25 will be published in EVERGREEN - Joint Journal of Novel Carbon Resource Sciences and Green Asia Strategy
(https://www.scopus.com/sourceid/21100812868?origin=resultslist).

We would like to invite all of you to take part in CSS-EEST25. We hope it will be an excellent opportunity for us to share our research and exchange our opinion. International collaboration is particularly important in solving global-scale problems such as environmental issue. We further believe that this event will help fostering the current and next generation researchers marching towards a sustainable future.

Fukuoka is a lovely city located in Kyushu Island. And Kyushu island is particularly scenic this time of the year (Autumn).

We look forward to seeing you all in CSS-EEST25.
