International Forum for Green Asia 2019
Domestic Industrial Tour (Dec.6-7) in Oita and Kumamoto
October 24 and 25, 2019 at Chikushi Hall, Kyushu University
On October 24 and 25, 2019, we organized the International Forum for Green Asia 2019 at the Chikushi campus.
This forum was held as a combination of two seminars: the annual international seminar of the Green Asia Program and the annual International Exchange and Innovation Conference on Engineering & Sciences (IEICES 2019). This year the Poster Session was held as International Forum for Green Asia 2019.
In the afternoon of the October 25, the Poster Session was held. In the Poster Session, 24 Green Asia course students in the 4th to 6th years in total (corresponding to D1 to D3 students) presented their own researches, and answered questions actively.

October 18 and 19, 2018 at Chikushi Hall, Kyushu University
On October 18 and 19, 2018, we organized the International Forum for Green Asia 2018 at the Chikushi campus. This forum was held as a combination of two seminars: the annual international seminar of the Green Asia Program and the annual International Exchange and Innovation Conference on Engineering & Sciences (IEICES 2018). This year the Poster Session was held as International Forum for Green Asia 2018.
In the afternoon of the October 19, the Poster Session was held. In the Poster Session, 33 Green Asia course students in the 3rd to 5th years in total (corresponding to D1 to D3 students) presented their own researches, and answered questions actively.
On February 2nd, 2018, Green Asia students visited Fukuoka city Rinkai Recycle Plaza and Fukuoka City Disaster Prevention Center both located in Fukuoka city. The total number of the participants of the tour was 11, including 10 GA students, 1 GA professor.

December 1st, 2016 at Chikushi Hall, Kyushu University The International Forum for Green Asia 2016 was held at Chikushi Hall in Chikushi Campus, with 3 invited lectures, 36 poster presentations (by GA students) and a student session (discussion and presentations by GA students).
The Period of GA Korean excursion was from 3rd to 6th of February 2016. In this excursion, we visited Yonsei University at Seoul, and participated the joint symposium with them.
On 4th February, the 1st day of the symposium, professors from Yonsei University as well as Kyushu University made presentation about their research. They explained the current trend of research area respectively. After the symposium, professors of Yonsei University took us to their laboratories. During the laboratory tour, we visited some laboratories, including electrochemical laboratory, chemical laboratory and their measurement room.
Green Asia special session “International Human Resource Development Strategy for Green Asia” was held on MMIJ (The Mining and Materials Processing Institute of Japan) fall conference (Morioka, Iwate) on 13th September 2016. This Green Asia special session has been held every year on this conference and this is 4th special session. For importance of global education and various global program is running in both University and institution, topic of special session was international human resource development. It also important topic for Green Asia and match Green Asia philosophy.
From December 10th to 11th 2015, Green Asia students visited two Japanese major factories located in the northern area of Kyushu island, the Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation in Oita prefecture and Toyota Motor Kyushu Inc. in Fukuoka prefecture. The total number of the participants of the tour were 54, including 33 GA students, 4 GA professors.
A domestic factory tour visiting three Japanese global companies was held on March 17-20, 2015 as a part of an oversea short trip for GA industrial system subject. In this tour, we visited the nation’s largest core industrial plants regarding iron manufacture, optical fiber, and air-conditioning apparatus fields in a single trip, and had an opportunity to hear various stories about research and development. Total 46 participants including 27 GA course students, 12 GA-RA students, and 7 academic staffs spent the fulfilling time, and it became the largest GA domestic tour in history on its scale.
From March 10th 2015 an assortment of approximately 40 Kyushu University (KU) staff and students embarked on a short term fieldwork assignment to Bangkok Thailand. The first event involved a visit to the Phayathai campus of Mahidol University (MU) which was located in downtown Bangkok. The day’s activities were focussed on a series of presentations by students and staff of both KU and MU. A sizable delegation of MU students attended the seminar and participated actively.

The International Forum for Green Asia 2014 was held at Chikushi Hall in
Chikushi Campus, with two keynote addresses, 2 invited lectures, 14 poster
presentations (by GA and other students) and a student session (discussion
and presentations by GA and other students).
The Qualifying Examination (QE) for 6 students of the 1st year class was held on February 24th, 2014.
QE consists of a document inspection to confirm whether the particular student satisfies the requirements of both credits and GPA. Its also entails the delivering of a research presentation, a written test in a specialized subject and a short essay on a general topic. Two years after their enrollment in a graduate school of Kyushu University, all GA students are required to pass QE to move up to the 3rd year grade.
Fortunately, all the students of the 1st year class successfully passed, and they will more intensively work on their research from the next semester.

- We visited the National University of Malaysia (UKM), and experienced a tour of their Solar Energy Research Institute.
Feb. 12,
- We participated in a joint workshop with students from the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT).
During this workshop, GA students were able to discuss their current research activities and advance their understanding of the research goals and objectives of the MJIIT students.
Feb. 13,
- We visited Malaysian SH Electronics Sdn.Bhd, which is a subsidiary of Sumitomo Metal Mining, Co., Ltd., and toured their facilities, such as a lead frame production line. After the tour we were given the opportunity to exchange opinions with the company’s managers.
November 29-30th, 2013 in Chikushi Hall, Kyushu University An international conference was held in Chikushi Hall, Chikushi Campus, with four keynote speakers, 1 invited speaker and 1 special lecture.
October 20, 2013, in Chikusi, Kyushu University
During the summer of 2013, 6 Japanese students of the 1st year class visited various research institutes in locations around the world for a period of approximately one month. These regular exercises, known as the “Practice School” aim to broaden their practical knowledge and experience. In this seminar, they delivered a presentation detailing the various skills they had acquired. Such experience away from the university environment proved valuable to all those who participated. After the seminar, 6 Japanese students and 9 international students got together for lunch chat.
October 2nd, Kyushu University
We welcomed the 9 international students of the 1st year class of 2013 into the Green Asia Program. The students originated from various diverse countries and cultures such as Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Egypt. After the ceremony, the students received a briefing regarding student life in Kyushu University.

6 Japanese GA students participated in a short-term trip to Thailand with academic staff.
They visited Mahidol University, and Ube Group Thailand.
January 29th to February 3rd, 2013 Singapore
Students of the Green Asia program joined an overseas trip to Singapore as their 1st short-term internship with professors and students of the G-COE program of Kyushu University. The Kyushu University party visited the National University of Singapore (NUS), and the students participated in a joint seminar of NUS, G-COE, and GA hosted by Prof. Kim Choon Ng. The students also joined a tour of research and educational facilities of NUS. Subsequently, the party visited a factory of Mitsui Phenols Singapore (MPS) located in Jurong Island, and Mitsui Chemicals Singapore R&D Centre.
January 25th to 26th, 2013 in Dazaifu, Fukuoka, Japan
In Dazaifu, a historical location close to Chikushi Campus, Kyushu University, 6 Japanese students of the 1st year class of the Green Asia program, 6 Japanese students from Kyushu University and 12 foreign students from associated universities (Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, India, and Bangladesh) joined a two-day event for international exchange. The highlight of the event was the workshop, where the students were separated into groups and discussed the social and environmental issues of each country. The students also enjoyed sightseeing at the Dazaifu shrine.

An international symposium was held in JR HAKATA city hall as a kick-off event for the Green Asia Program. We had the pleasure of the company of many professors and students from associated universities (Mahidol University Thailand; Malaysia Japan International Institute of Technology, Malaysia; Institut Teknoligi Bandung, Indonesia; Indian Institutes of Technology Madras, India; National University of Singapore, Singapore; University of Dhaka, Bangladesh).

The official opening ceremony of the Green Asia Education Center was held on Chikushi Campus, Kyushu University with the presence of the president of Kyushu University, Dr. Setsuo ARIKAWA. The new office of the Green Asia Education center is located on the 3rd floor of E bldg and houses the various dedicated professors and other staff.
