Abstract
The agricultural sector faces significant challenges posed by climate change and land conversion, which threaten food sustainability. Green manufacturing is an industrial approach that emphasizes environmentally friendly production practices. This research aimed to provide policy recommendations, leveraging the green manufacturing approach to optimize the potential of the Mijen District as an agro-edutourism destination. The initial step of the research was to identify the potential resources in Kampung Sawah Mijen, one of the agricultural tourism destinations in Mijen District, as a material for developing strategic steps through sustainable innovation solutions. Participatory Rural Appraisal was used to understand the potential, problems, and solutions from the community perspective. Multiaspect Sustainability Analysis was used to evaluate the sustainability index. The results showed that farmers produced an average of 4.6 tons of rice per hectare per growing season, with the majority having implemented environmentally friendly agriculture. Natural features, man-made features, and institutional support in Kampung Sawah Mijen were able to support sustainability in the agricultural sector. The findings show that the sustainability index of Kampung Sawah Mijen was 50,14. The social aspect reached the highest value of 69.44. While the technological aspect had the lowest value (41.67). Hence, technological innovation in tourism and agriculture was necessary to get cross-institutional cooperation and support from the local government. By applying the principles of green manufacturing, the government of Semarang City can improve the economic welfare of farmers as an effort to create a sustainable and responsible production system.
