The Practice School

In order to gain knowledge of the culture in companies and to acquire practical skills which are useful to industries, all GA students must participate in the “Practice School” activity, which is a short term internship within a corporation or a research institute in Japan.

The standard period for this activity is 2-3 weeks. As a rule, students are strongly encouraged to apply for internship programs financially supported by public or private sectors. For details, please see “Remarks” at the bottom of this page. (C-Engine, METI program)

If not able to do so, GA will provide up to 150,000 yen (FY2017 budget) which includes travel costs, accommodation fees, and daily allowance. Students need to decide the destination and the term by considering this financial limitation.

The selection of a specific location to conduct the Practice School activity should be determined after discussions with the students KU research supervisor.

Generally it is not allowed to undertake an internship at a university. However, if it is not possible to find an appropriate non-university destination, please submit a written statement giving the reasons from your KU research supervisor. The statement needs to be approved by the GA academic affairs committee.

The module is allocated 2 credits from “practice School” which is a requirement for GA course completion.
